ARCHAEOLOGICAL EXHIBITION
BEAR TOOTH - an Archaeological Exhibition in the Museum of Loviisa, Finland
The museum's prehistoric exhibition is open from April 22 to September 30, 2012, and presents Loviisa region Stone Age and Iron Age discoveries as well as dwellings. The exhibition includes tools, arrowheads, jewelry and ceramics.
In the exhibition there are also reconstructed Stone Age and Iron Age dwellings, which provide an idea how people lived in the Finnish Stone Age (ca. 8600-1300 BC) and Iron Age (c. 500 BC-1300 AD).
In Loviisa and Pyhtää regions ancient monuments have been found, nearly a thousand items, of which the Museum's first exhibition of prehistory is able to present only a small part. Some of the items belong to the museum's collections, some are on loan from privates.
Recent Iron Age objects found in 2010-2011 from Tesjoki Viirankoski are among other things. The exhibition gets its name and logo: "Bear's Tooth" from a hammered brass plate amulet,
The exhibition is open from May to September.
